Game Changer Mindsets

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Hi I’m Ali, a Sydney based professional and a wife, daughter, sister, friend and mum of two. I’m a senior leader with deep experience delivering performance across placemaking and CX, business transformation and using data to drive commercial outcomes.

What’s important to you in life?

My main source of joy are my amazing family and friends, however my career and personal achievements have also been a driving force for me from a young age. Working with Julie has helped me hone in on my core values which are joy, contribution, connection, fairness, humour, inspiration and prosperity.

What are some achievements you’re proud of?

I’m proud of the relationships I’ve built which give me the support and the strength to attack life’s many challenges. I’m proud of my two amazing kids who are becoming their own humans and surprising me every day. I’m proud of the career I’ve built which has taken me overseas (and back again), and has frequently taken the less expected path.

How has working with a coach helped you face your challenges?

Working with Julie has been invaluable in helping me hone in on what my true priorities are, and shaping goals that set me in the direction I want to be heading. I’ve gone through a big career and life transition, and Julie has helped me let go of my fears and limiting beliefs, allowing me to focus on taking action on my opportunities. I’ve never felt this grounded and positively motivated for the next chapter of life and career.

How has coaching expanded your mindset?

Coaching has provided some great frameworks to navigate the noise of my internal monologue! I’ve got far greater clarity on my own goals and priorities, and so am better equipped to take action that moves me in the right direction.

What qualities has coaching helped you discover (or rediscover) about yourself?

I’ve reconnected with some of the things that brought me joy in earlier life – swimming, music and coaching my daughters netball. It’s re-shaped my sense of life balance and identity beyond work and kids (the default).

What do you do more of and less of now?

I spend less time and effort on the things that don’t connect with my goals – this has been particularly valuable at work where I’ve let go of some of the noise that doesn’t serve me, and focused on the sweet spot that both serves my business and me personally.

What self-care practices do you engage in to support your best self?

I know it sounds very basic, but I’ve found a nighttime skincare routine has been a great tool for self care! The other important element of self-care is habit-coupling my swims with social-life, using these as times to catch up with friends and family.

How has your life improved as a result of the coaching journey?

The biggest benefit for me has been clarity, which has allowed me to navigate a number of challenges with greater confidence and less anxiety. This has also had a flow on impact to my overall mental health.

What would you say to someone wanting to get the most out of the coaching experience?

Commit the time, do the work, and be open to where it leads you!
